a silver lining perhaps...

... this week alone we've lost 7 residents who could no longer keep their homes due to unemployment. One gentleman whose been a resident for many years just confessed he hadn't been to mass in 15 years but now that he is about to find himself homeless he's been to daily mass for 3 weeks straight. He just smiled at me and said "I am just sorry I was so stubborn that it took this hardship for me to find my way back to Him."

Many people find their faith sitting in the dark fox holes of their lives. Never underestimate the power of God... and continue to pray for all suffering through poverty and joblessness.

Awww. That has to be hard there. I'm sure some days it helps to keep your mind on God but seeing people go through hard times on a daily basis is a cross in itself.

Only in trouble do most people turn back to God. I guess that's what God has in mind!

I always remind myself that there's no atheists in foxholes. My key is to stay in the foxhole at all costs, the battle is always at the edge, and this is where one stays sharp and attentive to the influence of the Holy Spirit.
