desperate for meaning and relevance in their religion...

"The reason people do these things (as well as turning to Eastern forms of meditation, New Age Spirituality, liturgical dance, etc.) is because they are desperate for meaning and relevance in their religion, and no one has taken the time and trouble to explain the meaning and relevance of the traditions and customs and devotions and sacramentals they already have. So they have to invent new 'creative, fresh and innovative' ways to be relevant." -Fr. Longenecker, source.

Tradition means giving votes to the most obscure of all classes, our ancestors. It is the democracy of the dead. Tradition refuses to submit to the small and arrogant oligarchy of those who merely happen to be walking about.

- G.K. Chesterton

Those who cannot see the value of learning from the wisdom of others, will continue to be fools.

Funny, I was just having this same conversation with one of my sisters. I have a Anthropology Windbag/Teacher who just loves to talk up every other faith system on this planet, and then bash Christianity. Oh, and did I mention he is a Druid? Oh, wait, I think he is also a Lakota Sun Dancer, named Crazy Dog or something. In reality he's just a disgruntled ex-catholic white guy searching for meaning by co-opting other people's culture.
