the two trinities...


I have often remarked that the Holy Family was the model of the Trinity and evidence of the sacredness of marriage. This work illustrates my point.

As one acquainted with the Eastern Church you should be aware that the understanding of St. Joseph the Betrothed is completely different to that commonly held in the West. St. Joseph was a widower with children of his own when he was betrothed to the Theotokos, was old enough to be her father and Christ's grandfather. His mission was to be a protector of the young girl and her child without giving any cause for scandal. All the icons portray him as an elderly man. There is no patristic mention of a "model" for the Holy Trinity.
