movie buffs...

... pluck something off this list; The 5o Best Catholic Movies of All Time.

I see my favorite, Millions, did not make the list. It might not be up to every one's speed as quintessential Catholic cinema; but how can you not love a chain smoking St. Clare Assisi describing heaven as "bloody infinite".

Wow...Pope Pius XII enjoyed Barry Fitzgerald in Going My Way? Cool.

I agree with including Angels with Dirty Faces on the list. That's a great Catholic picture.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie! It has got to be one of my all time favs. I get choked up at the Nativity play scene every time.

It prolly didn't make the list because it portrays St. Peter as a bit of a heretic the way he explains the loaves and the fishes miracle. He says something like, it was a miracle because they all shared their own lunches with each other, not that the fishes and loaves were multiplied.

What-eba!(as my three-year-old granddaugher says). There's enough good in the movie to make up for that silliness.

Sorry I chose "anonymous". I couldn't figure out my identity.

It's hard to take this list seriously, since it does not include Jesus of Nazareth (gets my vote for all-time #1 Catholic Film), The Robe, Quo Vadis, Becket, A.D., Kingdom Of God, or Into Great Silence.

I'm not really sure how Casablanca, although indisputably a classic film, can be construed as a "Catholic" film. Same goes for North By Northwest, Bicycle Thief, Grapes Of Wrath, Groundhog Day (!?!), etc. Maybe I'm not artsy-fartsy enough, or maybe I just don't get the list maker's premise.

Just my $.02.

I didn't see the movie, but I read the novel.

My favourite character was the cussing St. Charles Lwanga. =)

Like Anonymous, I couldn't get over St. Peter's heresy, though. =(

I just saw Millions last week. LOVED IT. Except, as mentioned, the putting of the "miracle of sharing" into St. Peter's mouth. But otherwise...marvelous.
