ill prepared...

... nothing in the text books ever prepared me for hospice care. Nothing.

That is a very tough calling. I know a couple people who have done it. It takes heavy toll emotionally and sometimes psychologically.

One of the greatest priveleges in nursing, I would think. Difficult though.

Nothing in text books ever prepares us for the heroic, the hard, the crisis, the prayerful, the lonely and the necessary. That is what faith is for.
Hospice is such a wonderful vocation.

The only way Mother Teresa could do what she did was daily Adoration. Ask for her intercession too.

All for Jesus...

The hospice workers who cared for my dad during his final weeks were truely angels on this earth...they helped him shave, bath, dress, keep straight the bazillion pills he had to take at about a hundred different times of day, helped him to the bathroom when he got sick to his stomach, etc...all with dignity and respect and the upmost compassion. They truely loved their work, even though they know that their patients only lived 2-3 months at the most.

God Bless them in their work.
