penance...

... vegetarian bacon.

I would rather observe Lent by praying the Stations of the Cross crawling on my knees through shards of broken glass than endure any more fake meat.

Those things look like it would be tastier to eat the packaging.

If you really are eating those, then you're definitely having a pentitential Lent!

When did it become "in" to eat tasteless food?????

As the only vegetarian (medical reasons) in a family of omnivores, I appreciate these "fake" meats. At least it looks like I am eating real food :-)

Blech. Most vegetarians I know hate that stuff too. They stick to just eggs and beans and peanut butter.

Kat, I love the way you put things! I would have said something simple like "I'd rather have my throat cut."

WT...? Why is it only 44% less fat?

Boca Burgers aren't bad. If you use lots of fixin's and imagination, they almost kinda sorta almost taste like meat.

Quorn Burgers are really tasty and nice for you, I started eating them last summer when I got started on a health gig (which I've managed to keep up!).

This has to be a violation of the Natural Law.

The delightfully evil side of me wants to buy this for my husband since he gave up meat for Lent.

I'm a vegetarian and I don't eat that stuff. That "bacon" is nasty. But if you REALLY want to do some SERIOUS penance, try eating Worthington canned foodstuff. It smells worse than bad dog food.

I'm a vegetarian, and I do eat that stuff. It's quite lovely in what we call "FLTs" Fakin, Lettuce and tomatoes!

Today I tried vegetarian lasagna (well, probably, lasagna is not very common in America - or maybe you have a vegetarian version, I don't know - however, in Italy, lasagna is made with ragù, which is a meat sauce).
Well. Today I tried vegetarian lasagna, and I think I can understand you :-S

Some of the Morning Star Farms stuff isn't bad. For a BLT replacement, try browning slices of provolone.

I didn't say low fat...

It might just be me, but I'm sure America is the only place that you can buy this stuff. Now I feel sick.

The Lord did not intend for us to eat fake meat, We aren't Buddhist, there is a reason fake meat products are not part of our culture. Kippered herring is really good for breakfast, the whole fish thing is one of the best things about being catholic.

Falafel is a lot better. It's not fake meat; it's real fried chickpea patties. Crucial difference.

Maureen said...

Or whatever falafel is. I don't care if it's bulgur wheat or chickpeas, as long as it's patty grilled or fried.
