So we're supposed to donate in order to keep Terry cringing at birds on a feeder; or to provide seed for said bird?
Feeding the birds is a mistake. I had done that one fine winter and had left bread crumbs, seeds and stale crackers out for the lovely little creatures but what I didn't know is that I was also feeding the mice - tons of 'em (many of which found there way into my home)and in turn the snakes appeared and some were massagua rattle snakes (Kansas prairie swamp rattle snakes) and king snakes (which are not harmful unless you count the trouble of changing your pants when you happen upon them) So now I say "screw the birds" they're on their own. Except for our hummingbirds which the children have affectionatly named chubbles. Oh, and there's Bob the frog who has been lost and last seen in my garage in the soda bucket for my party this Saturday.
That poor bird is going to get very hungry at this rate lol
Ah, that'll do it:<)!!LOL!!Oh, and yes, Belinda...the hummingbirds are exceptions (the cardinals and woodpeckers, also, at least here)...the finches and other piggies...sparrow, esp., I know, I know, our Lord was esp. nice to them, but even He said God provided for them..."let them eat cake" (!).Oh, and we buy our own bird feed here....we're poor as hell, but the chosen birds gotta eat:<)!
I'm having a butt-load of seed delivered tomorrow AM! LOL!
Hey, Terry, we'll take some if you can't use it all!!The birds here are total pigs...can't keep up wit' em...but then again, we don't have a PayPal button for the birds; they just have to take it as it goes!
Fr. - I'm sending it to Kat instead of cash. LOL!
I have lovely Western bluebirds this year..the males are so patriotic all red, white, and blue...and the male house finches sing so pretty.Too cold for hummingbirds still.
Poor birds gotta eat, too!
My understanding is that you're not supposed to feed the birds in the summer, as they are able to get their own food. Also, it attracts bears. Here in NH, Fish and Game always tell the folks come springtime to take down the birdfeeders. Unless you WANT the bears in your yard...
