humble reminders...

... nothing like a healthy dose of humility. Two such instances from this weekend come to mind; like bragging to someone that your free of sin as you come out of the confessional only to be reminded by them of the sin of pride, and setting off the smoke detector when blowing out the candles on your birthday cake. Yay! I'm old and prideful.

Sigh.

I think you're just trying to get attention to your young age of 35. I just hit the half century mark, I don't feel too bad for you. :)

The frog cartoon is cute. Did you make it yourself? btw - love your blog, & many happy returns of the day to you. :)

To grow in humility is to become more like Christ. It's painful, I know... but it is a good thing.

Two more thoughts: 1. You're not old. 2. We're all prideful.

Kat, I just finished listening - I mean JUST - to Jack Krasula interview Sheila Taormina, the swimmer who was "too old" (aged 27) to make the Olympic team in 1996. But she did and earned a gold medal. Then she came back for the 2000 Olympic Games for the triathlon, then the next one, and finally did the PENTATHLON in 2008 and took 1st place in two events.

So you're a just a young lady with a lot of potential. ;)

I missed the first part of the program since I was asleep, but evidently I woke up in time to hear one of the last questions just for you, Kat. Krasula asked what she was most proud of and she said she couldn't be proud; she could only be grateful to God for every opportunity she had been given.

I'm not there yet, either, but isn't that the way to live?

Happy birthday, Kat. I really enjoy your blog and hope you continue chronicling your excellent adventure.

Hope you had a happy Birthday Kat! If you are old, then I am only marginally less old than you. My birthday is in the next few days. I stopped counting when I turned 30 so now I have to really think about my actual age. Sometimes when I work it out I'm pleasantly surprised!

Did you back into the confessional afterwoods or did you just say a quick act of contrition?
