She was not and never was a prostitute, she was very close to Jesus, and more important than the patriarchal church wanted people to believe...and, she was the first to see him risen from the dead, the first to spread the news...how awesome is that, in a time where women at best were considered property, like cattle?

The only thing she can be accused of is that she had "several demons in her" which, at the time, could have meant something as simple as being physically ill.

A proud choice as a patron saint! I am not a follower of all that DaVinci code nonsense, but do believe she was given a bad rap by the church. Sad that so many don't know the truth about her...not long ago I had a discussion with someone in the convent who insisted that she was a prostitute. Hard to believe.

This is my favorite painting of her: http://cgfa.acropolisinc.com/t/p-latour5.htm. I think it is called Repentant Magdalene by Georges de La Tour.

I hope you like it. :D
