humble academics...

... I used to suffer from intellectual pride. But that was before I realized how stupid I really am. You see, the more I actually learn the more painfully obvious it becomes how little I know.

So you'd expect all those fancy academics, who think they know everything, would at least have sense enough to recognize you can't possibly know everything and be humbled by that realization. To be so smart but lack any sense. Shame really. Like atheist doctors.

That's my ideal office. I want an office like that: four thousand books, every one within arm's reach.

And a laptop or two. And a high-speed internet connection.

I want a room like that and a nice kneeler in that room as well. I would never leave that room. My wife would be so happy i would be silent for once in my life.

An expert is someone who has made most possible mistakes in a very narrow field of knowledge. What you know always leads to unanswered questions.
