Pink Nuns blog...

... The Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters in St. Loius Missouri have a blog. Using modern blogology they are promoting their cloistered contemplative community. Perhaps stop by and leave a comment, pray for their community, make a donation, or consider it your possible new home if God wills it... maybe do all of the above.

Why do they wear pink? Is it liturgically significant?
Great photos.

Water and blood make pink.

Is anyone else having trouble with that link? I keep getting a "server not found" message.

My six-year-old would be SO there right now, if they let six-year-olds be nuns. In her opinion, the world does not get any more beautiful than nuns AND pink.

And my cap-a-whatsit verification word is "sockbal." Blogger has been having a look at my laundry pile.

Nevermind. It works now.

Perhaps life is one long Laetare (rose) Sunday. Can't help thinking it would feel like penance after a while though.

Hi! We wear pink in honor of the Holy Spirit, to whom we are consecrated. Pink is also the color of joy!

Sister,

Thank you so much for answering my question.

They have a lot of convent in the Philippines (incl. near the place where I was born, New Washington, Aklan). The late Philippine Pres. Cory Aquino visits them at their convent in New Manila frequently. We call them the "pink sisters."

Pink - thank goodness it has nothing to do with Barbie or breast cancer research or panthers. Go pink! And thanks be to God for the Holy Spirit.

These sisters have the happiest habits! My little girl may join them just for the pink.

Okay, Protestant here not trying to be offensive or anything, but...I'm more used to the black-and-white nun's habit than the colorful ones - and I've got to say, these are a whole lot less intimidating than the (what would you call them?) 'traditional' habit?

I'd be more comfortable talking with a nun in the colorful habit than a nun in black-and-white.

The Watcher, that's only because you don't know that nuns in brown are tough and nuns in blue-and-white will make you feel like a wimp with their hard work. ;) Compared to them, the black-wearing nuns are cakewalks.

I love these sisters. Because their official name is very long, we just call them Pink Sisters. They sing like angels! There's a convent near my home and I love going for mass there. It's always a taste of heaven here on earth. Plus, priests from their sister (or brother) community, Societas Verbi Divini, give very good homilies.
