oh, shiny...

Someone behind me just saw this image on the screen and gave me the usual rant. I will share it with you all, word for word. *ahem*

"That's what's wrong with you Catholics and the Vatican. You are hoarding all your treasures and billions and preach about helping the poor. If you sold all of this stuff, you could do so much for the poor. You're more interested in making sure your pope has designer shoes and private jets than actually doing anything about it."

I am tired today, so the way I evangelized was by offering the person a Dorito.

I love how you love "shiny" things, Kat!

Burgo, the argument is a little off as that's an Orthodox set. ;)

Damn. Thom beat me to it.

Burgo, did you know most of those treasures stored in churches throughout Rome aren't even owned by The Church. They are owned by the Italian gov't. It was done for their safety to protect the treasures from sacking over the course of various wars and occupations.

These things aren't the churches to sell.

I would ask for my Dorito back.

Catholic bling - wonderful, thank you.

Thom and Kat, I did, indeed, know that, but when someone is as ignorant as the person behind me was I just didn't see the point. It would be like trying to have a conversation with Bill Maher.

I know that in a case like this, Jesus wouldn't have offered a hydrogenated snack treat, but at least I didn't insult his mama, throw a hot beverage in his face, or elbow him in his safety-deposit box.

Is that a first step on the road to holiness?

LOL!

I'm pretty sure that Jesus would have loved Doritos as much as we do, so I wonder if he would waste one by hurling it at someone?

Catholic bling is really wonderful. Should just show what we celebrate....it's the last supper, the Holy Communion, the Eucharist! CHRIST HIMSELF! Should be noble, because HE is noble! :)

In a hard-currency-phobic economy (like a socialist or Communist one) gold really has no use. May as well use it for Godly things, provided that the government permits religion.

There was a dude in the Bible who chastised someone for giving Jesus a luxury item. I think we all know what happened to him.

Oh, that Minorite tendency to make Our Lord an aficionado of pop-prol culture...And yes He was prone to holy anger...:)
