Yep, it's a mixed bag, but I've heard some very good things about WYD, from the comments here and from other sources. Given that the Pope will be there, and that there is Mass, the Sacrament of Penance/Reconcilation, and at least *some* genuine Catholic catechesis happening, it *has* to be better than some of the Protestant shenanigans that I've seen!

Planking at WYD. They could do the "original" Catholic plank and prostrate on the ground in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Now there's a photo I'd love to see!

That first photo makes me want to sway. Or put my hands in the air.

Or maybe both at the same time!

Clearly, those young men are practicing for their ordinations.

I'm always secretly hoping the Papa will bust out with a Latin Mass at WYD. Man, would that surprise some people!

Yep, because you don't want to mess up your only chance to prostrate in public.

Too bad I can't get the live feed :(

Kat, give the nuns and guitars thing a rest. There's no context provided with your snapshot, there's no evidence (and guitars do not constitute evidence a lack of reverence, despite your clever and funny sidebar) in that snapshot of any substantive disrespect for Jesus the Lord.
Come out to California, I'll chant for you 'til both our asses are sore and we feel very Roman/Latin.
It ain't about the damn guitars.
By the way, outta Fayetteville, my wife and I had the opportunity to take in urban Charlotte. Not too bad.

Hear hear Charles. There is room for both chant and guitars and reverence.

One WYD was enough for me.

Charles in CenCal, some of us have a different opinion and we have a right to express it, just as you do. But I think it can be done without ridiculing people and foul language. For me Sacred music/guitars is an oxymoron.
